On-the-job learning

Most TAKK trainings include on-the-job learning. In training leading to a qualification, the on-the-job learning is implemented either through a training agreement or apprenticeship. Labour market training, which does not lead to a qualification, also include on-the-job learning. Immigrant training include work practice, too. The on-the-job learning is planned in the student’s personal competence development plan in the beginning of the studies.

Qualification training

The qualification training and learning is based on either an apprenticeship or training agreement. An apprenticeship agreement is always a fixed-term, paid employment relationship to which the normal rights and obligations of the employment relationship apply. The training agreement is not an employment relationship, and the student is not paid.

During their studies, students can move from one form of on-the-job education to another according to their own study path: from apprenticeship to training agreement and vice versa. Learning at the workplace is planned together with the student, and it is agreed upon in the student's personal competence development plan (HOKS).

Training agreement

The training agreement covers learning in practical work tasks at the workplace, i.e. the acquisition of competence. The agreement is made individually for each student and notified to the student. A training agreement is a written, fixed-term agreement between the education provider (TAKK) and the employer.

It is not an employment contract, and the student is not paid during the training agreement. The employer is also not compensated on the basis of the training agreement.

A training agreement is usually made for a qualification unit, or a smaller entity at a time. If you want to agree on a longer period, the instructor will investigate the possibility of an apprenticeship.

The training agreement workplace monitors the development of the student's competence and reports to the education provider on the realisation of the student's competence acquisition.

For more information on matters related to the training agreement, contact your responsible instructor.

Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship training is always based on a fixed-term employment contract. In apprenticeship studies, most of the competence is acquired at the workplace in practical tasks. The competence is supplemented as needed in TAKK's learning environments or other learning environments.

In apprenticeship training, the student is in an employment relationship and the employer pays the student in accordance with the collective agreement. Apprenticeship contracts are otherwise subject to normal employment rights and obligations.

An apprenticeship contract can be made for the entire training period/qualification at once or, for example, for a qualification unit. The average working hours must be at least 25 hours per week in tasks corresponding to the qualification. The student is assigned a workplace tutor who is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the learning at the workplace. Training compensation may be paid to the employer.

For the duration of learning in TAKK's learning environments, a student may be paid a daily allowance if he/she does not get paid for those days by the employer.

Other training

Non-qualification education may also include on-the-job learning. On-the-job learning is agreed upon as part of the planning of studies, and it deepens the knowledge/skills acquired at the educational institution The aim of planning the on-the-job learning is employment after the education.
